Well, the former four-star recruit has finally reached a decision on where he’ll play.Smith didn’t have much success on the field in his freshman season. However, the Buckeyes knew it’d take time for him to learn the playbook and adjust to college defenses.Unfortunately, Ohio State won’t have the chance to watch Smith develop in Columbus. The winner of this transfer sweepstakes is Cincinnati, as it’ll add the former Buckeye to its offensive arsenal. The freshman wideout went on Instagram to explain this major decision. “Sometimes your path takes a detour, but the mission stays the same. Second chances don’t happen often but when they do you must be ready,” Smith wrote.Check it out:Cincinnati has proven to be a legitimate football program in the American Athletic Conference. The Bearcats are coming off an 11-2 record this past season, which ended with a victory over Virginia Tech in the Military Bowl.Smith will have to sit out this upcoming season, but he still has three years of eligibility remaining.Ohio State will have to make a few changes to its depth chart at wide receiver. Luckily for the offense, five-star recruit Garrett Wilson is poised to make an impact in his first year.
