Evan Rachel Wood Just As Disturbed by Humanoid Sophia As Everyone ElseMIT’s Thread-Like Robot Slides Through Blood Vessels In the Brain Stay on targetcenter_img Walmart last week introduced a batch of new employees at 50 stores. But they’re not there to flash you a smile, tell you where to find the lightbulbs, or ring up your purchase.Following last year’s initial robot rollout, the big box retailer is dispatching more of its shelf-scanning automatons across four states.Equipped with cameras and sensors, the six-foot-tall roving towers slowly wheel down an aisle, searching for inventory issues—blank spots where an item is sold out, incorrect or missing price tags, misplaced products.Though the bots can complete their rounds twice as fast as human colleagues, they aren’t meant to replace living, breathing associates, according to Walmart.Instead, the goal is to free up time so workers can provide better assistance.“This has largely been about how we improve our performance and improve our service to our customers,” John Crecelius, vice president of innovation at Walmart, told Business Insider.Walmart is testing the waters in an effort to determine an ideal schedule for its robots, which currently operate once in the morning, once at midday, and once in the evening. While they are not designed to interact with customers, the droids are also not mean to be invisible; Crecelius said most people have  “natural curiosity” toward them.“People are just drawn to technology and what it does,” he explained. “Our associated naturally get drawn to it: ‘What is this going to provide, how can I use this in what I’m doing?’”During a recent pilot program, employees reportedly found new ways of applying the robots that even corporate bigwigs overlooked—like knowing which items to rush from the delivery truck to store shelves.Staff has already taken a liking to their mechanical co-workers, Crecelius told Business Insider; some even gave the new team member a name tag to wear.Walmart is testing its robotic helpers in markets across the US, including Arkansas, California, Florida, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania; the Los Angeles Times reported devices at Walmart Supercenters in Burbank, Palmdale, Lancaster, and Santa Clarita, Calif.last_img read more

5 Reasons to Stick With Overwatch

first_imgStay on target Wrecking BallOriginally named Hampton, this genetically altered hamster piloting a wrecking ball of doom is the games twenty-eighth character.  Wrecking Ball falls under the tank class and is equipped with quad cannons and a shield that are both slightly reminiscent to D.Va’s (which is poked fun at in-game.) But what sets Wrecking Ball apart from that mech piloting Dorito gremlin is his roll mobility. Being able to pop in and out of the ball form to get places quickly is a life saver. There is also a grappling claw feature (reminiscent to Window Maker) which is enabled in roll form that helps you swing, spin and launch at high speeds. This mechanic alone drastically changes things up when wanting to take a point as the opposing team. Don’t forget to pile drive while in mid-air for extra damage! Finally, Wrecking Ball’s minefield ult scatters long-lasting proximity mines that explode on contact making him a strong defense tank. I am really looking forward to seeing this little guy be played by the professionals next season in the Overwatch League. Overwatch League All-Star WeekendTwo days of non-stop Overwatch! This is a fun event taking place in Los Angeles that’s tying things together with the game. August 25th will be full of face-offs in custom matches. August 26th will be the All-Star game between the Atlantic and Pacific divisions. Saturday’s games include Lucioball Showdown, Mystery Heroes, Window Maker 1v1, Talent Takedown and Lockout Elimination.  Sunday will be more of the usual five map match with all 18 players on each team being used once with substitutes between maps. There are also two legendary skins that will be available to purchase from the 17th through the 27th. Water Goddess Tracer and Fire King Genji will be available for 300 Overwatch League tokens each. Hooray, we can finally use them!So if you stopped playing for a bit, It is a great time of the year to jump back into Overwatch. The kids are back in school, so I’m sure you could use the stress relief. Plus you might as well start building currency now for this years Halloween Terror event!    ‘Overwatch’ Coming to Nintendo Switch… In Case FormLego Adds Two More ‘Overwatch’ Sets: Wrecking Ball and Junke… Free Wrecking Ball Loot BoxesFrom now until September 3rd, all Twitch Prime members will receive two Wrecking Ball exclusive loot boxes. This helps players even out their overall loot chances for the next few levels so lots of folks can join in on the Hampton fun. Plus if you keep your Twitch Prime account through October, you will receive two more golden loot boxes! Nerfs And BuffsThere is a handful included right now. Ana’s Nano Boost instantly heals her target for 300 health; while Brigitte’s Shield Bash cooldown has increased to seven seconds. For Doomfist, his Rocket Punch no longer impacts Symmeta’s teleporter. But now he can destroy her turrets without stopping movement. Hanzo Lunge has increased to five seconds. Moria’s Biotic Grasp regeneration has increased from 2 per second to 2.4 per second. Lucio’s Crossfade radius increased to 12 meters and his Sound Barrier shields 750 health.  Mercy had her main healing resource nerfed making her healing beam become reduced from 60 healing per second to 50 per second. The hitbox for Sombra’s head has been reduced (I guess she had a big head?) Windowmaker’s grappling hook cooldown has increased from 8 seconds to 10 seconds which is probably my favorite of all these changes. Zarya’s energy drain rate reduced from 2 per second to 1.6 per second, while her graviton surge has been reduced to six meters. The Summer Games Are BackOr shall I say, summer GAME. Singular. One… That’s right, Lucio ball is back in the mix whether you like it or hate it. Last year’s Summer Games event introduced competitive Lucio Ball into the mix for those hardcore players who have already platinum’ed Rocket League by now. Not much has changed within the mode, minus the new beach city of Busan level. But Copa mode from last seasons update still pays out well and is a lot of fun! The summer event comes with new sporty and beach-side skins for a handful of players. Plus all previous Summer skins are available for a reduced amount. Overwatch has been going strong for just over two years now and fans cannot get enough! Right now the games developer Blizzard is preparing for the millions of players who are ready to head back into World of Warcraft thanks to its Battle for Azeroth expansion. Many gamers are jumping ship for a bit stating that Overwatch needs to offer more content to its players to keep them active. While I agree somewhat with this remark, I think the team at Blizzard is releasing just enough content to keep players happy and keep the game itself leveled out. There is still a good amount of new content available now and a slew of features to come to keep many of us excited!
