first_imgIlene King, 87, of Versailles, formerly of Osgood passed away at 7:45pm, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. She was born near New Marion on July 23, 1929 the daughter of A. J. and Huldah Edens Meadows. She was married to Verland King on October 21, 1948 and he preceded her in death on May 18, 2005. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John and Virgil Meadows, and her sisters Lucille Newhart, Nadah Holman, Lorene Ehlers, Rosamond Waters, Doris Murray, and Donetta Heacock. Mrs. King was a 1947 graduate of Delaware-Jackson High School in Napoleon and was also a graduate of the Indiana School of Cosmetology in Indianapolis. She had owned and operated her beauty shop in Osgood for 15 years and was a 17 year employee of the Ripley County Bank in Osgood. She had also been employed with the Ripley County Farm Bureau in Osgood as well as the Card and Gift Gallery in Osgood. Ilene was a member of the New Testament Christian Church in Osgood. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27 at 11am at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Irvin Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery in Osgood. Visitation will be Saturday from 10am until time of services. Memorials may be given to the Jennings County Hospice or the New Testament Christian Church in care of the funeral home.last_img read more

Kroger issues Private Select fruit recall

first_imgCincinnati, OH— Kroger has issued a recall on 3 varieties of their Private Selection frozen berries as some have tested positive for hepatitis A.  This recall includes blackberries and two varieties of mixed berry medleys.  There are currently no reports of anyone getting sick.  The store has recalled its 48-ounce frozen triple berry medley, with UPC 0001111079120, its 16-ounce frozen triple berry medley, with UPC 0001111087808, and its 16-ounce frozen blackberries, with UPC 0001111087809.last_img
