One step ahead this storm season

Bureau of Meteorology Queensland state manager Bruce Gunn said the state had already experienced several severe thunderstorms this season, with reports of large hail and tornadoes.“Queensland experiences a peak in severe thunderstorms every spring and summer, typically between October and December,” Mr Gunn said. Brisbane’s most sustainable home “This allows busy mums and dads to put on a load of washing, grab the kids who have every light, TV and PlayStation in the house on and in a touch of a button turn them all off, walk out the door with a secure house and come home to clean laundry and plenty of power available,” he said. Battery storage is especially important in Queensland, where thunderstorms often brought periods of power outages, or extreme weather events such as floods that could take down areas of the network for extended periods.Mr Weston said this technology was especially important in Queensland, where thunderstorms often brought periods of power outages, or extreme weather events such as floods that could take down areas of the network for extended periods.“With the Tesla application there is no noticeable change in your home when the grid disconnects, except for a message to your phone, which indicates the house is now on battery back-up,” he said.“During normal everyday use, the home will take energy from solar as a priority and then the batteries will be drained entirely before the home automatically switches over to the grid as a last resort for power.”Mr Weston said Solaire homes had an additional feature, “Go Green’’, which allowed the resident to turn off everything except the fridge, security and washing machine. >>FOLLOW EMILY BLACK ON FACEBOOK<< Solaire Properties are at the forefront of sustainable house design and director and business manager Harley Weston said the company built homes to give a positive impact just by living there. He said the homes were packed with innovative features, including the Tesla Powerwall 2s for all energy storage needs.“These batteries have a combined storage capacity of 27kw, which when used effectively has the ability to run the house completely off the grid for several days without being recharged,” he said.“The benefit that solar coupled with battery storage has over just solar panels is that you can keep the power that you created for free in your own home.“Electricity in Queensland is purchased for roughly 27¢ per kilowatt, but when it is fed back into the grid during the day as excess energy, the homeowner is only paid 7¢ a kilowatt, so there is little benefit in selling back to the grid in the current market.”More from newsParks and wildlife the new lust-haves post coronavirus15 hours agoNoosa’s best beachfront penthouse is about to hit the market15 hours ago New cladding laws to prevent tragedies Smart home that changes light bulblast_img read more

Wilshere hails Giroud form

first_img “Olivier has been really impressive, especially at the beginning of the season when everyone was saying that Suarez was coming in to take his place,” said Wilshere. “For someone playing in that position it would have been tough for him to lose his place, but he has shown great character and for me he’s been our best player this season. “He holds the ball up and brings others into play, he has learned that side of the game, that the Premier League is tough and sometimes you have to push defenders off the ball. “He works so hard, he has played nearly every game, but fair play to him because he keeps going and going. “He has got a great physique and a great base of fitness. Hopefully he can continue that form.” Wilshere found himself roaming all over midfield against Saints, having seen an early chip come back off the inside of the post. The 21-year-old feels having the likes of Ramsey, Ozil and Santi Cazorla in the side can only drive the Gunners on. “We have a lot of players who can play in similar positions and it helps that we can all interchange,” he said. The France striker netted a brace against Southampton at the Emirates Stadium – the first gifted by a blunder from goalkeeper Artur Boruc – to take his tally into double figures. Giroud has produced the perfect response following Arsenal’s summer pursuit of Liverpool forward Luis Suarez. Even though the likes of 11-goal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and £43million club-record signing Mesut Ozil have grabbed the headlines as Arsenal moved clear at the top of the Barclays Premier League, Wilshere feels Giroud deserves all of the plaudits. “We are all ball players who can move in and out and change positions and then we have Theo (Walcott) who can run in behind them. “We have got (Lukas) Podolski and (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain coming back, so it is going to be strong competition on the wing and in the middle.” Wilshere, of course, would love to be able to be at the heartbeat of the team every week. “I have read the manager saying that I want to play in the middle, in a deep-lying position, but at the moment the team are going well so I have to play on the wing and that is fine with me,” he said. “There is strong competition for places and Arsenal is a top club, so just to get on the pitch is fine. “I can play on the right, coming in on my left foot. I feel I can do a decent job there, so I am happy at the moment.” Olivier Giroud has been Arsenal’s best player this season, according to England midfielder Jack Wilshere. Conor McGregor quickly deletes tweet about Khabib’s wife as spat escalates

first_imgThe post sparked a response from Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, but the wrestler didn’t immediately respond, according to Business Insider. In a NSFW tweet, Abdelaziz posted: “Talking sh—, this guy is insulting someone’s wife and making fun of her religion and belief. He doesn’t realize he’s insulting 1.5 billon Muslims. Religion and family is a no no. You’re f—ed Connor, let’s see what the media is going to say now. He’s a rapist, and a b—.”The social media feud comes after Nurmagomedov questioned McGregor’s retirement, calling him a “jealous wife.” Nurmagomedov explained while speaking at a Moscow university Tuesday that he thinks McGregor and the UFC couldn’t reach a deal for upcoming fights so McGregor decided to announce his retirement.”I don’t think he’s finished,” Nurmagomedov said (via ESPN), adding: “Conor acts like a jealous wife, who says ‘I will leave’ all the time but then comes back.”UFC president Dana White appeared to agree with Nurmagomedov as he said Sunday that he and McGregor need to meet in person to discuss future fights. Conor McGregor took a jab Tuesday directed at Khabib Nurmagomedov’s wife, escalating the spat between the two rivals even further, though the post on Twitter was quickly deleted.According to MMA Junkie, McGregor shared two photos of Nurmagomedov’s wedding day with the caption: “Your wife is a towel mate.”   Watch more than 100 fight nights a year on DAZN”I think that there’s some things that Conor wants and I think that Conor wants to get together face to face, he and I, and we probably will in the next couple of weeks and we’ll get this thing figured out,” White said in an interview with KLAS-TV.McGregor announced his intentions to retire from MMA on social media last month. However, he retired once before in 2016 before deciding to go back in the Octagon shortly after. Glen Sather steps down as Rangers president, will remain advisor to James Dolan

first_img“Glen and I will work closely together to identify his successor. We thank Glen for his dedication to the Rangers, and to all of hockey, and look forward to his continued contributions to our team in his advisory role.”Sather played 10 seasons in the NHL before moving into the coaching/executive ranks. He’s best known for serving as a mentor to a young Wayne Gretzky and coaching the Edmonton Oilers to four Stanley Cup wins in the 1980s. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997. OFFICIAL: #NYR President Glen Sather is transitioning from his current role to become Senior Advisor to the owner and alternate governor. The organization will begin an immediate search for a new President, with Jeff Gorton continuing in his current role as the team’s GM.— New York Rangers (@NYRangers) April 4, 2019TSN reported Wednesday that Sather was considering the move, and “this is Sather’s call.”“I want to thank Jim Dolan for a great partnership working together over the last 19 years, and to everyone in the Rangers organization. It has been a privilege to represent New York and our great fans,” Sather said in a statement. “I truly believe the team is headed in the right direction and think the future is bright. I look forward to transitioning to a different role and continuing to play a part in building the next Rangers Stanley Cup contender.”The Rangers are 31-36-13 this season, their second straight losing campaign. But the team has enjoyed great success since Sather joined the club as president and general manager in June 2000. In 14 seasons as general manager from 2000 through the 2014-15 season, he earned more wins (556) than any GM in franchise history. The Rangers won three division championships, advanced to the Eastern Conference Final three times and the Stanley Cup Final once, in 2013-14. Gorton assumed the role as GM in 2015.Sather told the New York Post Thursday that Stanley Cup Final loss to the Los Angeles Kings is his biggest regret.“I certainly would have been happier about it if we’d won the Stanley Cup,” Sather said. “We had the opportunity to do it, but those three overtime losses in the final in LA … that’s the biggest regret. “But then also the reality that we were starting to get older — not me personally, but the team — and we could see that we would need to make changes to get better. That’s always painful.”“Since he first joined the Rangers 19 years ago, Glen Sather has been singularly focused on delivering our fans a team that can consistently compete for the Stanley Cup,” Dolan said in a statement. “In doing so, Glen has become one of the most successful executives in Rangers history, and his current strategy has set the team on the right path to achieve our ultimate goal. New York Rangers team president Glen Sather is stepping down from his role, effective immediately, the team announced Thursday.Sather, 75, will transition into a role as alternate governor and senior advisor to James Dolan, CEO and Chairman of Madison Square Garden Co., which owns the Rangers. Jeff Gorton will continue in his current duties as the team’s general manager, and the team is immediately beginning a search for Sather’s replacement.last_img read more
