So a five-setter that approached four hours should come as no surprise… except for the fact that the No. 9 Schwartzman held a commanding lead, winning the first two sets, 6-3, 6-4, thanks to his opponent’s error-filled play. But Norrie made a comeback to win the next two to level the match. In the final set drama, Schwartzman was comfortably sitting with 5-3 lead, only to have Norrie save a match point and another at 5-4. Grimacing and hobbling, Schwartzman saved two match points of his own but lost the last four games, as Norrie prevailed, 3-6, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1, 7-5.
