first_imgA MAN has been arrested and released pending further investigations after details of GAA members from throughout the country were stolen.We can reveal that the details of hundreds of registered GAA members in Donegal were on the stolen database.However it’s thought that a former disgruntled employee of Servasport in Belfast, the company which managed the GAA members database, was behind an incident where discs containing information were sent to the Gaelic Players Association and the Data Protection Commissioner in Dublin. PSNI sources have ruled out any paramilitary or sinister motive behind the leak.As well as the names and addresses of members, the database holds:288,511 dates of birth107,212 mobile numbers63,695 landline numbers30,171 email addressesIn 544 individual cases, the database referred to a medical condition.The GAA said it would write directly to each of these members setting out the information about them.
