CONFIRMED: Sunderland sign Manchester United duo for £5.5million

first_imgSunderland have completed the signings of Donald Love and Paddy McNair from Manchester United.The Black Cats have paid a combined fee of £5.5million to take the defenders, both 21, to the Stadium of Light.Central defender McNair, a Northern Ireland international, made 27 appearances for United and played under new Sunderland boss David Moyes during his brief spell in charge at Old Trafford.Scotland Under-21 international full-back Love, meanwhile, tasted both Premier League and Europa League action with United last season after a successful loan period with Wigan.They have both put pen-to-paper on four-year deals with Sunderland.Moyes said: “Paddy is a young, athletic player who is improving all the time. He has experience for Northern Ireland and we want to bring as many international players to the club as we can.“Donald comes highly recommended and is another young player who I hope can develop and improve here.“I want to add some young players to the squad as well as some senior players and both of them have got really good potential and the opportunity to improve.“I want to bring in players who are here for the long-term as well as the short and hopefully these two are here for the long-term.”Love and McNair are the second and third signings made by Moyes since his appointment as manager earlier this summer.Papy Djilobodji was the first arrival in an £8m deal last week.
