Hellenic Bank promoting antibullying in schools

first_imgAs part of the campaign ‘Xamogelase’ (Smile) against bullying, Hellenic Bank and ‘Hope For Children’ CRC Policy Centre have joined forces to sensitise the local community over dealing with violence and bullying at schools. The programme ‘Peer Support Groups’ has started expanding in more schools, due to Hellenic Bank’s sponsorship.During this period, the programme is being implemented in Kiti gymnasium (Larnaca) and in Ayios Andreas primary school in Nicosia, with the aim to cover at least one school in every district. In this programme, groups of children are being trained by professionals in order to work as anti-bullying ambassadors and as peer supporters in the schools. This idea is based on the philosophy that some messages are better transferred to children by other children. The main aim of the programme is to provide students with not only knowledge about bullying, but most of all life skills, which are useful in the long run for problem solving and dealing with various difficulties apart from bullying. The educational sessions last 12 weeks and consist of experiential activities that focus on four basic cores of skills, co-operation, identification of the peer supporter quality characteristics, communication and active listening and problem solving. The programme is implemented with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Culture, and it will be assessed by administering questionnaires to students before and after the training. You May LikeNerve RenewIf You’re Fighting Neuropathy With B12, Here’s Why It’s Not WorkingNerve RenewUndoReport Globe8 Cutest Exotic Dog BreedsReport GlobeUndoWeLuvPuppies.com9 Happiest Dog BreedsWeLuvPuppies.comUndo Two of serial killer’s victims buried in PhilippinesUndoUK plays Brexit hardball with ‘stubborn’ EUUndoTwo days of music to dance toUndoby Taboolaby Taboolalast_img
